READ THE BLOG:  Homestead

That didn’t go as planned. Let’s try this again…

Hello!

Thanks for stopping by. I’m Valerie and would love to share my experiences with our day-to-day challenges which at the moment include working part-time, preparing a house to sell, then we’ll move, while simultaneously looking to create a homestead, finish raising the last three of seven children (17, 16, 8 as of 2018), and try to squeeze in some time to make crafts. Yeah, I picked a weird time to add a huge project to my plate.

This is something I had been tossing around for more than a year. Now with our move coming closer the plan is to keep me at home. My new job is to plan how to set-up our homestead. The process requires documentation as part of my sanity.  Too many things get forgotten (sometimes intentionally, sometimes not). We want to grow fruits and vegetables, have some chickens, maybe a goat or two. How much experience do I have with any of that?  Almost none. You can learn right along with me.  Or if you have an ounce of compassion for my struggles, perhaps you can share some of your wisdom!  😉

Hopefully you will find at least one of the categories listed to your liking and you will follow along in this journey to become self-sufficient and maybe inspire you to do the same.

Warm regards,

-Valerie

Now it’s 2020… need I say more?

Well, yes, that’s the point. To start, we haven’t moved, and do not plan it for  the near future. That sweet spot time frame has passed and now we will wait another 4 years. It’s all good.

Now the 3 still at home are 19, 18 and almost 11. In college, a new high school graduate and a middle schooler. They are all working, yes even the 11 year old. She is a mother’s helper for our new neighbors and their three littles (6, 3, 1). She loves spending the days with them.

Now that I am at home, so many things are getting done that I just couldn’t manage while working. Stay tuned as I begin to share the variety of things that have been going on.

Be well,

Valerie
